Need a pic from the side with a ruler in mm next to them
Sorry found what I need....30mm for the XL's 32mm for L's stc etc ;)
I recent brought a new Burris C4 from calbelas online. Had it delivered to a mate in the US there picked it up when there for work. Brought that one over the CDS as the leupold VX3 offers no solution for wind age and the Burris can be dialed and has hash marks each MOA out to 10 MOA.

I think I actually ended paying around NZ$420 in the end for the 4.5-14x42 and I have no regrets in the purchase. Have since hit hares at 685 yards (video on forum thread "Burris C4"), and steel targets at 1000yards, it returns to zero and back without any issues. Sure the VX6 can offer the same, but not the same price. However, I see Hunting and Thieving have them at $899 retail here in NZ, might as well buy the Vortex HR LR or VX3 (if they can get you the reticle you want, and not just fine duplex) at that price.
3 is fine in all but the thickest shit but the field of view and light gathering on 2 is just awesome.
Fast target acquisition.
I went with the 2-12 cos its on a 308 so i won't be shooting past 1100y on targets , but Im sure the 3-18 would be nice in the bush also.
Yeah it will be going on a 308 and i'm leaning towards the 2-12x.
Check this out for 2/3 the price.

On the whole topic of importing scopes, how do customs contact about duty required? As I have purchased a Burris c4, its in NZ at the mo, but am expecting payment to be made to them
In the past they have sent a letter to the delivery address with and invoice, this will include GST, Biosecurity fee and most likely a Document fee. I don't think Duty will be included on a scope, but could be wrong on that one. I didn't have to pay any duty on my range finder, but did pay the other fees and GST. Still cheaper than buying locally, by a bit.
Went with the 3-18x with illuminated reticle in the end. Was a tough choice. Played with them both, indoors and out, for about an hour.
As mentioned the 2x was better at 10-20m, but I figure I'm not that stealthy haha.
Just spent a day in Cabela's in Fort Worth Texas last week whilst doing some work. Amazing selections as you would expect ... but not much in the high end ... also went to a couple of other specialist stores ... way cool. I bought some really cool predator calls which I'm keen to try out and picked up a scope. Whoever the NZ agent for Swarovski is ... he's an absolute margin thief ... less than half price.
Opti's turned up today @Groundcontrol !!!! Legend.
Will sell my one inch opti's and proceeds will go to a kids charity.
You are a top bloke!
Ok so this shop that said they could get my Vortex still hasnt even heard from the international warehouse.
I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and order from the Optic Zone.
Anyone think i'll have any issues here?
No issues. Place your order and sit by the mailbox.
Dont think so. When i used them i placed the order and got an email back overnight saying it was out of stock. Optics planet have an option to check availability but i found there credit card authorisation process a bit finicky when purchasing. At least opticzone just charge the card and ship it.
What are you after?
Opticsplanet will export it. It has "government export restriction" in bold letters but thats meaningless. If it has "itar product" then it starts getting more involved.
Delivery time will be about the same. Whats the price difference? I would try opticzone first and if they dont have it then go to optics planet. The credit card verification from opticsplanet will hold it up by a day or 2.
Try asking but it might take them a day to get back to you. Or you could order it and it will probably take the same amount of time for them to say if they dont have any.
I dont know if they work out cheaper over here, but if they are Im happy to bring one over for you. Have a look on Uttings.co.uk | Field Sports, Camping Equipment, Fishing and Outdoor Equipment. I fly out on the 19th and can meet you in Auckland or Hamilton.
Thats a mighty fine offer mate. Couldnt find my scope in there though :(
Ive just had a hunt online and I think the only place you will get one of those is the States. I'll ask my local store when Im in there next and see if they can get hold of one, they are normally pretty good at sourcing stuff.
Scott at "The Rifle Scope Store " is a top bloke ,great prices easy to deal with ,replies to emails overnight .Have bought four items from him now and have never had any problems .Mate had a problem with a Sightron he bought from them ,Scott had a replacement scope which he had upgrasded on the way to NZ before we had even sent the faulty one back .Great service highly recommended
