Thread: scope mount for rossi puma 357

hey everyone- I have an old probably circa late 80's Rossi puma 357 short barrel jobby.
I also have a small Armson OEG red dot that has lived on various other firearms over the years but probably is best suited to the Rossi mounted down on the barrel. Had it refurbished last year and the most appropriate rifle is the Rossi.
My Question is does anyone know of scope mounts that I could drill and tap to the barrel? It is too old for the factory to have D/T'd it already so have to do that so the worlds my oyster as to mounts but if two piece mixing and matching heights could be a PITA-there is quite a dramatic diameter change on the short barrel
Will the later model rails fit and just drill and tap the barrel to suit?
Not interested in a side mount so don't go there. I am even a little hesitant to fit the OEG but at worst I take it off and fill the screw holes.
thoughts?
BTW the lower the better. and I can always remove metal from the mount later on If I have to streamline/lighten it.
