Scope mounting tips and tricks

If you are comfortable that your rail is square vs the receiver just use a feeler gauge or similar between the rail and the flat at the bottom of the turret assembly to ensure they are square and do the screws up. You could even use a deck of cards if you don't have a feeler gauge laying around.

WAAAYYYYY easier, faster and I would argue more accurate than using levels etc.

Just remember to remove the gauge before you finish tightening the screws or something might give way.

Yup, this is what I do.
Saw it in a YouTube video, worked well for MOST my rifles.
Have a couple (old Stirling 20P and an air rifle) that have a rounded receiver so no flat surface - but eye-right works well enough for those.

Trick with round receivers is to put the bottom part of the rings on and then lay the level on top of that, this way you have a flat surface to works from. Unless you are using Warne Maxima rings...

I mounted a scope last weekend in literally 5 mins this way. I checked it afterwards with levels and lasers, just as a matter of curiosity, and it was perfect.

I guess when your a multi millionaire who owns a gun parts business you get to play with all the best toys.

If not then I'd splash out and get the pack of cards with the Girlies on them just to make mounting a scope that little bit more interesting ;)

does the rifle have to be placed flat when putting bubble levels on the receiver and top of the scope?

I used two. One on the rail one on the scope turret. Level the rifle then match the scope. Also checked it using a plumb and lined up vertical on reticle with rifle level.
