    Scope Mounts best option

    Hey Team
Finally my new ruger 17hmr has arrived. I have left it with the store to arrange shortening and threading so next step is to add a scope. I am new to this type of equipment so keen to hear what is the best way to mount the scope.

I am fitting a gunworks supressor which is 35mm in dia if that is big enough to make a difference.

The rifle has 3/8" grooves and is also drilled for weaver #12 bases.

So i'd like to hear what you think about type of mount and also height of the mounts. Are there benefits and draw backs of either or does it make any difference which way i go?
If i could have a full time job shooting pests i'm up for over time.

I used the bases that came with mine and permanently mounted them with high strength Loctite. They will require heat to remove should I ever need to.
Followed up with Leupold steel scope mounts. Just my preference I have them on all my rifles and I know they are heavy but I don't care.
Once fitted I number them so if dismantled they go back in same pairs facing the same way. Torque the rings slowly and evenly (criss cross fashion) to manufacturers spec put a little dot of dull red
paint to monitor for movement and never had one move ever. Works for me !! Everybody has their own little methods I m sure these heaps of other ideas on the subject.

thanks for that, it's something i want to get right.

I'm thinking the weaver bases are a good idea and most likely over-kill for the recoil (lack of) of the hmr but once they are on it's there and solid.

get a rail and burris z rings that is the best mounts out there imo
im not a fan of has 3/8" grooves as to easy to knock when hunting
however if you do use that route go for millet rings that's what I use if I have no option but 3/8" grooves
