    Scope options

If you where setting up a long ranger with not to much of a money limit on the scope what would you pick and why?

This will be to go on my new longer range hunting rifle but will do alpine tahr trips mainly odd deer trip when I feel like it has to come out as well
So has to have max of 6 at bottom end an 25 or so top end, don't always have it right in but is handy to have for odd time at range with stell tho wont be doing it much with this one anyway.

30mm an 34mm scopes only 50mm front bell or bigger, mil or moa not fussed

Have bigger pmII and premier don't want to go that big size wise an weight wise the atacr is as heavy as I like to go.

    options so far are

    Mark6 leupold 3-18x44
    PmII compact 3-20x50
    Atacr 5-25x56
    March 4-40x56
    Kahles k 6-24x56
    NXS 5.5-22x56

    Options after shot show

    March 3-24x52
Premier......cant find out but have a new line out also Love you light tac an heritage but would love little more mag on the light tac
It is a light weight build but it I try keep scope light them options run out or limit

    Thoughts?

Ha just re read the start of your post, not much of a money limit.
I read it as not much money so there is a limit.

Haha the old quick read a, I have a 4-24 vx6 that I was going to put on it but want more reliable after the amount of 3-18x50 an 44 that I have killed......
the one that I am thinking have newer seen one before don't know if they are good or bad but is the pmII compact

With the cost gone into this build in components so far to make it as light as I could scope is the cheap bit
But will be something little unique

Well you'll laugh at this Tui but have you considered the Zeiss HD 5-25?

I did think about is as I have a 3-15 an is noce wee scope but not rally suited for this one and the 17moa would limit me with 100zero to 910m at sea level

SB PMII 5-20 x 50 Ultra Short ?, if and when it's ever released.

Some say single turn, others say now double turn elevation.

That's also true this one will be going in couple of weeks since won't have time after middle of February until we go away for tahr ballots.

So that is probably not a option lol

As I have told you and Smiddy I am having this decision issue as well. I have a set of 34mm rings sitting idle on my bench.

Premier and S&B top my list. Never had a Premier but they are by all accounts near the very top of the line, in the tactical market.
We had S&B scopes later in my military career. Long way off what is available now, but they sit well with me.

Khales is very nice but not sure on their turrets and repeatability. Liked them a lot for a non LR rifle.
Its is good having someone else doing the ground work and aiding my decision, just hurry it up and sort it well before the ballot eh???

Ill bring both the pmII an premier down for you to look and see as well, just size is to big for this one would look out of whack lol. the premier is physically a BIG scope.

Have had a play with 2 of the kahles and they are nice but only worked loads for both rifles an shot well back an forward to 800m

Its a rock and a hard place lol

I want to have it sorted before the wife pops in Feb witch will then take up more time so want to be able to take it out the cupboard an go down for ballot time

The back of the ute is gunna be full for your trip down.

I see the perfect storm hits the south island just in time for my flight in tomorrow night. I doubt we will get in with 140km NW winds predicted. Fucking typical, when ever I have come home this year apart from the roar the weather has been fucked.
