+1. Once you get over about 3x you FOV diminishes to a point where it makes it difficult at close range. I own a 3-15 and a 3.5-10 on my centrefires as as a compromise between magnification and size they fit in pretty well. 2-3x at the lower end and 12-15x at the top would be my preference.
