Agree with above advice on Swaro Z3 and Kahles but also take a careful look at Zeiss HD5, either the 3-15x42 (I have 2 and they are outstanding value) or the 2-10x42. Also you might find an older Zeiss Diavari in 3-9x36 or 2-8x36 on 2nd hand market if you are patient. Nothing wrong with the Vortex Viper PST in 2.5 -10x44 but the glass is not quite in the league of the euro scopes, but it gives you dial up features and illuminated MOA or MIL reticle which can be very helpful for longer range shots. The Leupold VX3 2.5-8 x36 with CDS turret would be another option. I recently got back from US and was able to visit a Cabela's on my way thru. Picked up a Leupold VXR Patrol 3-9x40 with TMR reticle on sale for US$278 (reduced from $750) ! Great little scope - light weight (448 gm), dial up turrets (60 moa adjustment) on 30 mm tube. Bloody riper deal.
