    scope selection

iv got an absolute beauty of a rifle, a sako l579 forester in .243 with a heavy target barrel, iv got it shooting 5 bullets into 1/2 an inch at 100 yards, the only problem is my scope really dosent do it justice, its an old lyman x4 fixed power thats hard to use on anything further than 100-150m because the crosshair dot blocks out my targets, iv been looking at new scopes trying to find one with very fine crosshairs for shooting bunnies etc, dose anyone know of or use a resonable scope that has fine crosshairs that would suit this just to give me some ideas?

Awesome rifle .... Needs a decent scope to do it justice.

Leupold 4-14x40 with a varmint reticle would be good

If you looking for something cheap I would suggest you get a Burries 4-9x40 FullField with Plex reticle gloss. It has a dial at the eye piece to fine out the cross hair depending on what you shooting, distance, target size etc. If zeroed at 100 accurately, the plex reticle is very accurate to its graduations upto 500 yrds.

I have one of this on my A7 and am very much please with it..

The last time I saw it was $399 at Hunting & Fishing..

vx 6 with CDS turret. They've finished my Sakos off nicely.

Depends how much you're looking to spend.. And any particular brand catch your eye? Leupold VX1 would be a good cheap scope but if your back pocket allows then VX3 and VX6 are nice scopes... And as kiwi39 said, the varmint reticle would fit your needs

I stuck a vx3 8x25 with varmint reticle on my 22-250 calibrated it an was shooting turkeys out to 530 with out having to dial.
Those scopes also dial superbly as well.
A very fine cross hair and not that suitable for spotlighting for me

Buy my Swaro Z6i, very fine crosshairs and an illuminating dot with holdover points.
Very very nice scope but changed all mine to dial up so no longer required.

For something a touch different, there's the Mueller range over at nzhunter.com

Closing down sale means you can pick up a 8-20x50 with microdot reticle for @$310

This one on EBay is up to $2255 with 6 days still to go!

Mines the Z6i 2-12x50 TDS 4-I and I'm asking $2000 to forum members, apart from some very minor ring marks, it's immaculate!
