Need to decide what your max budget and weight is.
Light weight and rugged can go together, but probably isn't going to be cheap.

VX5hd is the default scope for this use case it seems.
Depending on your criteria (cost, weight, features, glass, etc) determines where to go from there.

VX5hd, VX6hd, Z5+, NF NXS, NF NX8 are all the easier answers but there are a lot of options on the market now so really need to nail down your criteria.

I have a Burris Veracity 3-15 that I'm looking at moving on, which would suit your criteria well, however being FFP it would either be a selling point or a turn off for you.

    Light
    Rugged
    Cheap

You can have any two - pick them carefully...

Adding over that a scope with good glass - and you aren't picking cheap it would be fair to say.

30mm is fairly easy but may be heavier than an equivalent 1" tube although it will likely be more robust.

As noted, set down what you want in terms of features, magnification, physical size, weight and glass quality and then see what your options are locally. Have a look at them and see if you like them and then can justify the price tag. If not, see where you can compromise on features to get the price down.

How ruggered the z5+ is is yet to be determined the nxs range suffers from poor glass unfortunately an illuminated one would suffice though my biggest issue was id loose the reticle before I’d loose picture none illuminated model 2-10 though but for the weight I’d rather a vx5 2-10 or even 3-15

I've owned pretty much every brand of high end scope at one time or another and I'm very happy with my NXS2.5-10. I've not had any issues with it in a hunting situation for glass quality. I think the worst one was March tbf but that was more around terrible eye box.

At a price step down from the Euro's I'm really happy with my Burris 2-10 Veracity (nb its FFP) . 30mm tube does make it a little heavier.

S&B Meta ticks a lot of these boxes too.
