Thread: Scope Sun Shades

Have been looking at getting a sun shade for the scope on one of my rifles to try, I bought one cheap off AliExpress but the thread doesn't match any of the scopes I have although it is the right diameter (40mm). What does everyone else use and they worth the cost?

Duct tape it on

I think it is mission impossible to just buy a random one and hoping it would work. Most lenses tells you the diameter of the objective, but that does not necessarily translate into the diameter of the thread, it can easily be 1 or 2mm larger. the threading also is not standardised. I just use a piece of wrapped cardboard, then wrap wide duct tape around it to protect it from light rain. looks fugly but who cares.

PVC pipe on front objective and piece of car tube taped on rear objective for rain.
