About leupold reticles on vxr vx3 vx5 etc. These reticles afe designed for hunting and only APPEAR reasonably thick at low power for easy visibilty especially in the bush or dull light. However in actual fact at low mag they are seldom more than 1moa thickness which amounts to only 1" at 100 yards. At higher mag say 10x they are usually 1/2 or less moa, so at 500 yards only cover 2-3" of aimpoint. I've never been able to fathom why guys get so hung up over them "looking thick".
While some Delta reticles are fine, their awesome centre dot variable illumination allows very fast target aiming any condition from dark to bright environments regardless of reticle line thicknesses.

With your style of hunting and shooting first focal plane would be perfect. If the reticles too thick just wind back the magnification.

You will have the added bonus of being able do wind holds with your reticle.

    Worth a look anyway.
I'm assuming the issue is the reticle thickness covers too much of the target. With a first focal plane when you zoom out the target also decreases in size so that wouldn't actually help with the problem. But obviously the reticle could actually have a thinner reticle that may help.

@Sarvo how does the tactical turret go on multiple revs and does it have a zero stop function?

It has both mate I have one and love it.
It's a big scope if shooting open country I leave the exposed turret if bush hunting I swap for the capped.
Let me know if you want to have a look I'll be down your way in the next month

Thanks @Woody , the info in the link above didn’t have the zero stop mentioned so that clears that up.

Here's the details of the latest version of the Delta 4-24. Has a zero stop.

    https://www.scopeuout.co.nz/products...geable-turrets

    Note the new MOA reticle.
    Has zero stop.
    Calibration power 12X
I can vouch for the illumination - its fantastic.

The only negative (if it is one) is the little bit of extra weight over the vx5 (a few ounces).

    Buy from Sarvo.

What about the Burris hd5. Imagine it would be light. Had all the features of a vx5/6.
No idea of the glass quality or reticle options tho

Thanks for the help everyone. Looks like i’ve decided to go all out and get a NF NX8 4-32x50 F2 with MOAR-CF2D reticle. Will be selling some treasures to foot the bill.
