I'm looking at buying a second hand wood/blue browning A-bolt in 243. Other than all the usual stuff(crown, rifling, cracks in wood etc), is there anything specific to this model to look out for?

Try the trigger. If its too heavy (they often are) you can get replacement springs so don't worry about it too much.
I have the same rifle in 308, hard to fault really.
Well made rifles the A Bolts, I liked the 270 WSM I had at my sons place in Canada.
Some A bolts are getting back a bit now, if it's been well used I'd look at the barrel, being a 243 barrel life is a little more finite than say your average 308.

Greg Hudson at Custom guns has the Miroku badged version of this, with a "euro" style bolt handle. Nice!!. It's in 243 as well.
My Miroku M-bolt has an excellent trigger, and that's with Anschutz 54 single stage and two stage triggers for comparison. The Anschutz would be better, but not much in it at hunting weights (2lb+). It does have the spring swap but it was crisp and clean even before. Less lawyer influence on the Miroku badged ones maybe??
Yeah. The M-Carbo spring swap makes a big difference.
They are smooth enough, its not being able to adjust the release weight far enough down that is the problem.
i put a timney trigger spring in my abolt improved it some/enough for me my second abolt has good trigger not sure if has had the spring swap tho
