Don't bother with a Ruger 10/22 unless you want to spend money on aftermarket parts just to make it shoot good all well and good if you like tinkering with firearms.

The Marlins are great for the money and generally do what they should from the box. There is a reason they are the worlds largest selling rimfire semi action outselling Ruger by over 2:1. To get the Ruger to shoot anywhere near as well as the Marling usually means dropping at least another $2k onto it; even then it is not likely to match the Marlin
