Sending rifles through hunting and fishing

Hay all, I purchased a rifle off here and we organized for it to be sent through hunting and fishing franklin to napier where I am. I have always sent firearms through them as they view your license in person and it avoids the paperwork hold up. However hnf franklin are now requesting a mail order form to send to their napier branch? Is this a new thing? Am I correct in thinking that this shouldn't be required and napier just view my license? Dont want to exchange words going in half cocked

I have sold a few through the local hunt n fish and my local don’t ask for any mail order forms etc but s couple of hunt n fish in the north island
Wouldn’t send the rifle or receive it before a mail order form was done.

It's certainly looking like a more appealing option at the moment.

mail order from is not hard to sort, if that is the only barrier to sending it through hunting and fishing, this was certainly the case when I sent a rifle to the north Island a couple months ago through Hammil's hunting and fishing and only cost $35.00 from shop to new owner which was music to my shallow pockets

Yeah I'll have to do it I'd say, I just dont like it as the paperwork went "missing" twice for my ar and it seemed to be an endless process trying to chase it.

I did a mail order a couple weeks back at the chch main police station it was absolutely painless, walked in filled out the form, handed it to the lady at the counter and within 10 minutes the seller had a copy and rifle was on its way same day

Alan Millers H&F requires a police form. Not unreasonable in my view.

I do agree BUT In saying that, doesn't it seem odd that you presenting your firearms license to buy one of their firearms is sufficient and obviously the person at the other end must have one to obtain it, yet you have to fill out the police form?
you need a police form for mailing ammo yet I'm sure if you went to an H+F store and they didn't have your applicable .339 wonderbee cartridge there but it was at one of the other stores, what's the difference them getting it from them, or the same for a rifle that isn't in stock. What's the difference? They have the power to inspect your license is valid and matches you for retail purposes but not for mailing?

Agree, it really does defy common sense and logic .

A mail order form isn’t hard just get one if that’s what they want you want your rifle
So going to the police station with the form pre filled out (download it of the police website) and fill it out before going to the Station
It only takes seconds for them to check your license and fax it to the ao for sign off
Can very easily get it shiped via courier aswell
Yes it can’t be shiped to your door (fair enough imo the amount of firearms that the rural postie has left on my doorstep) id prefer to know its Secure and pick it up from the depot or local gun shop

Ive always used fastway with no issues but last time they broke the stock inhalf on a ruger m77
So ill probably try someone else next time
