I have a very short 22 that I brought so I could use the youth stock on my other 22 . Now its just occurred to me since the unused action its not in a stock could this be deemed Illegal length ?

Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
I wouldnt have thought so, heaps of gunsmiths would be in the shit?
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.
308Win One chambering to rule them all.
Seeing how its in bits i dont think so if it was in a stock it would be over the 762mm
I think your fine, otherwise every time you stripped a ride to clean it you would be braking the law.
I have a lot of rifles stored out of there stocks at the moment to maximise safe space and it's been checked a couple of times with no problems.
If you were carrying it around and using it without the stock then that would be another story

I thought the minimum length was measured when in its normal (fireable) config. Breakable actions closed, etc. IN a stock.
