    Short barreled 338s

I have just got a couple of 338s back from Gunworks.
They rebarrelled my Barrett 98B as the factory one was "Disappointing" & had "numerous issues"
I rechambered it in 338 Norma Mag, so I could fit the 300 Berger Gen IIs into the mag easily & because it is different
I may get a throating reamer put in it because the rounds could be a couple of mms longer & still fit the mag.
The other one is another Edge.
Robbie & the team fluted the bolt & barrel they look excellent & they did a fantastic job on both rifles as usual.
The Barrett being extremely time consuming because so much had to be removed from the barrels diameter in sections & fluting.
Both rifles have 26-27" barrels & my Terminator muzzle brakes.
    The 98B has a 1-10 Lija & the Edge 1-9 TF UM
I haven't fired the Edge yet as I only got it this morning.
It still needs an alloy bolt shroud, lightweight firing pin & a VX3 LR to replace the MK4 to save a bit more weight.
It is currently 4.285kgs as per photo.
I will use a Sendero stock for initial testing, as I'm not sure which Hunters Edge stock I will use.
My 30" Edge may be redundant depending on velocity.
The 98B is showing plenty of promise so far & apart from a batch issue with powder it is pushing the GenIIs at a comfortable 2830ish.
I may bring it back to 2800, not to shabby for the barrel length
I will be very interested to see the difference in speed between the 26 & 30" Edges.
    Here are some pics.

    Awesome peices of kit there!

Can't wait to see some targets.

I am taking one of my rifles down to robby early next year for a new barrel, fluting and break. Might have to take my tikka bolt down to get fluted, shit they look nice.

Yip speed on the shorter edge will be interesting.... still have to decide on faster twist 300RUM or 338Edge....Staying at 26" or maybe something different.

That fluting is sexy Greg especially the bolt. I wonder how it would go on a bush rifle? fill the action with shit?

Nice shooters Greg. I like the Idea of the Norma Mag. Should be good.

Great looking bit of kit there Greg, the new terminator muzzle brakes look as good as they work and will go well with the new big terminator case design when its finally finished. My money is on the 338 Norma beating the edge in performance in a 26 inch barrel but time will tell. The Norma AI would be very tempting but the fire forming would be a pain, I wonder how much real world velocity you would gain??

A 26 inch barrel 338 at 2800fps would make them very user friendly compared to a 30 incher

Very nice KiwiGreg, nearly time for a 300g Terminal performance thread...................

The 338 guys in the states are working hard with 2217/2225 and the CCI250 primer combo and are having great results,

the Aussies are catching up as well........

What brand are those rings on the Barrett 98b? They look like they'll hold onto the scope mega well.

The rings are Barrett Ex-Rings 15-40 moa in them.

You need them for the rail to get more elevation, they are too close together for my likeing to get 40 moa so I put them further apart.

Yep those brakes work well, had the GF behind the 98B with the 300s no worries, my daughter will be a good test
