I have an xbolt chopped to just under 17" with dpt suppressor. Its the shortest possible without suppressor touching stock. Nice to shoot, running 168amax supers and 150 grain cast subs
Depending on budget and preference have a look at the kimbers I had a kimber .308 cut to 16 don't think you could possibly get any lighter still regret selling it...
A second hand kimber beats a new tikka, and I have and like both.
The amax should be good at the reduced velocity.
Hunting mate had a Sako 85 Black Bear .308 topped with a 2-12 VX-6 on a recent trip, seriously nice.

Savage Lightweight Hunter fits the description spot on, would be my pick. Cool little rifles.
30.30 projectiles are another option for a bush rifle in .308
the flat nose works really well in a short barrel where you effectively cut the performance down to 30.30 ballistics. and being a bush gun, the long range trajectories are irrelevant.

I was hoping it could shoot out to 400yrds ,the stock may be the limit in how short can cut the barrel to fit the suppresser ,can the stock be cut or does anyone make a shorter stock?

dont go cutting the stock unless you are one of the 7 dwarfs
it makes for a really shit rifle. short barrels are the go.
remington make a childrens stock for the model 7s but they are for children
I have to ask, how often do you shoot out to 400m?

Factory ammo or reloads? Makes me think seriously about cutting it back another couple of inches if you're getting 2600. I shoot 168's in the high 2600's - factory stuff.Quote:
