Yes in certain things
Some primers are a bit scarce as is some loaded ammo. Havent noticed any real issues in brass and projectiles yet.
hell yes
had trouble getting primers , ammo boxes, trimmer pilots for hornady trimmer
and cant get bulk 338 projectiles any where
Small rifle primers seem to be hard to find at the moment. 223 projectiles seem to be a bit harder to find than usual too (esp fmj) but not sure if that is just due to normal nz supply delays.
One of my favourite reloading gear suppliers said he had a whole bunch of component orders cancelled from the US end due to sheer lack of supply, not sure if that applies to all, or only to the smaller ones though.
Hornady landed a decent shipment of gear in the last few weeks and I was able to get sierra 338 projectiles for a customer two weeks ago with no probs .
Also had 2000 223 fmj hornady arrive last week for one customer .
Can't say I have found any shortages at the lower end of the scale rimfire stuff must just be bigger stuff
I'm waiting til I'm completely out of ammo, always give me a feel good factor when stocking up :)
Well the importer of Hornady training ammo is being a cock again, he has let the country run out how many times now???? Fuck him. I won't buy anymore of it, he can get bent.
Is it his fault or can he not get his hands on enough of it?
Not quite right Wirehunt.
They ordered lots of the stuff but Hornady are unable to supply . Nothing that the importer can do about that. Getting the steel cases out of Russia is the issue I believe .
The brass version of the training ammo arrived and was selling fast so they rang hornady to see if there was more left. Yes 4.5 million rounds left in stock at this stage was the answer. By the time that they had figured out how much they were going to order ( a few hrs delay ) one shop in the USA brought all 4.5 million rounds ....
Steves w/sale the hornady importers are very well thought of in the trade.
I've got around 1,000 rounds of training .223 steel cased left, plus 10,000 ish CCI subsonic .22lr, plus about 1,000 .22WMR.
Buying in bulk is nice to keep the price down and gives you a comfortable stock for shortages. It's good to be able to just grab some boxes and go shooting.
I need to get more 6.5 stuff and some 12g.
Talked to a friend of mine in the USA today, who tells me that ammo is going up at a frightening rate, one shop he went into had 5 boxes of .223 left on the shelf so he bought the lot and left then remembered that he went there for primers and went back and found they had 5 boxes of .223 left ...... the fucken scamming aresoles
Shortage of Highland ammo in NZ right now
Some places are only putting out a few boxes at a time to stop people from buying the whole stock and 'flipping' it for a profit on online sites... They may not be scamming arseholes.
Nah, I have heaps of primers , powder, projectiles etc.
But getting stuff from Brownells now is a huge headache:oh noes:
Every single product at Brownells, Rainier Arms, etc: Out Of Stock, Backordered.
apart from the shortage, are we also starting to see some price gouging ?
Havent seen any price changes of note from the NZ importers that I deal with .
Priced up some ammo that arrived last week and some cals had actually gone down a little bit from the last time we got the same thing.
If this keeps up I may have to start reloading up some empties
Not sure if it's gouging or just different approaches to pricing. The one example I've experienced was for American Eagle 9mm.
Reloaders - $24, Now out of stock.
Wills Hunting and Fishing - $30, only a couple of boxes remaining on the shelves ?
Gun City $32 - online shows stock
Serious Shooters $40 - only a couple of boxes on the shelf
It's a weird day in the universe when Serious Shooters is more expensive than GunCity :D
It might just be commercial reality than the shops realise they can make a decent profit out of it this month.
The assault weapons ban has basically been torpedoed so things should be back to normal in 6 months or so...
Should be cheaper than ever soon. All the yanks will have there stock piles and won't need to buy any for years.
Cheap stuff for us !

Yeah, I'm down to my last 200 Sierra .30 150gn FMJs and 1200 Large Fed Match Primers! :D
Suppose any shortages has moved along old existing stock least in 6 months we will be enjoying freshly made rounds
