Yeah was thinking that maybe 50, Does accuracy seem to be affected when your shooting further out though?
Yup, My marlin will be pin point at 40m at 100m it open to around an inch depending on ammo. My cheap scope may not be helping though
Ah I see maybe if I sight it in to 60metres might be a a bit better, Only problem is the local range is 50 or 75 haha
Others may do it differently, I do it this way
Find an ammo that your rifle likes to eat without jamming (CCI for my Ruger)
Sight in at, say, 50m. Get your windage sorted and zero at that height.
Shoot at 10 m intervals beyond that (and 40m too if you think it might go high) and record the drop at those distances.
Now you've got a drop chart for that ammo in that rifle so if you are aiming at a bunny at 120m you know to aim, for example, 30mm high to scone it in the noggin.
if your local range won't accommodate then you can zero at 50 there then measure out distances that suit somewhere else?

Check it at other ranges too so you know how high and low it goes at what ever range
It won't change the accuracy, you need to spend a bit of time and ammo working out your drops at various distances.
My 22 is zeroed at 50 as that is where i need it spot on for deerstalkers 4 position at 50. I have worked out where it shoots at various ranges (using known trees as distance markers from my deck!) So i can now headshoot mynahs and magpies out of the various trees confidently.
75 would be a good distance for you, then work out where it is at 50 and 100, use a ballistics table to start but varify it on the range, then practice heaps, no substitute for lead down range and a 22 is cheap enough to shoot a shitload!

Alway sight my .22 in at 70 metres but start at 25. Read a ballistic chart as it it will climb an come back in, depends on ammo used as 308 says. Did the same with my .17 yesterday 25 metres then 100. From 25 metres had to bring it up about 5 ". It's easy to hit a target to start with at the closer range
Thanks guys will make a drop chart when I get the chance to just need to find a spot to do it, Are you allowed to go to the nearest doc land and make a makeshift range or is that not possible?
No rim fire on DOC land? Check first maybe wrong
Yeah not to sure might have to get a small game permit and then do it that way suppose that's not a bad thing tho be a good way to test it out haha

Just had a look on my scope it as left,right,up,down written on it so hopefully i am going in the right direction ahah
50m for subsonic and 75m for supersonic I find good zeros for 22lr(and if your lucky they will both zero at or around those ranges without altering scope)
I have get down to Taupo to sight in my marlin model 60 now that it is wearing a cheap scope (centerpoint AR22 3-9X32) till I can afford the rimfire scope that I really want. Will be sighting in at 50 meters then move it out to 100 so it is set up for the forum bunny shoot that is coming up in rotovegas.
Oh I forgot I was using subs so might have to settle for 50m. cheers for the help everyone

The old way was to sight in at 75 yards with super sonic then the drop at a 100 yards was about 4". Now, if you're a young fella you'll have to Google "yards" and "inches" to find out what they mean and then work it out from there.
