    Sling swivel studs

Hi everyone. Sorry but another random question. Does anyone know where I could source a timber thread sling swivel stud with a 6mm outer thread diameter? the ones that I have found in shops e.g. uncle Mikes are a smaller thread and wont fit into the existing stock holes. I'm guessing the one I have is some random imperial size (close to 6mm) but I would like to fit a new sling and don't want to damage the old sling or swivels to fit it on.
Once again any advice is really appreciated.

wouldnt be hard to change hole to accept smaller thread, pack hole with wood...even matches will work and simply thread new swivel in place...you can also glue wood in place to make it stronger still...I just moved along half n inch and made another hole.

Thanks Micky I just didn't want to dick around with the hole too much as I wanted to put the original stud back in one day. In saying that I probably could just dowel the hole out like you suggest, you're bloody helpful thanks mate.

No need to apologise for asking questions, bud. Passing on knowledge is part of what this forum is about, if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks guys yeah Gibbo my terminology is probably a bit off... Thanks for looking though.
Gonetropo good idea a rawl plug would prob do less damage to the existing thread so ill try that first.
    Max sorry for saying sorry...

Have you looked at any of the online stores? Perhaps give them a call.

My bil put a tawa dowel in my old Sako Hunter which swivel hole had got loose by injudicious use of oil on the stock.Flushed it off and screwed in the swivel. Never moved again. Just putting new swivels on my sons 44 mag. But have sealed the stock with Truoil and Armourall mix.
