    If you put anything on a barrel you will most likely change the point of impact if not the group size , so if you must do it then check it , the only reason for a swivel on the barrel is with hard kickers where under recoil a stud on the fore end can tear up your hand .If you want to move the sling forward try having the stud right on the fore end tip parallel to the barrel . I did this to my Mod7 and it dropped the barrel sufficiently so the muzzle is below my shoulder and doesn't get in the way when trout fishing with the rifle on my shoulder . Uncle Mikes make a kit that will fit most barrels , have a look on Reloaders web site .
    Get as close as you can then six feet closer
