Slug Gun For Kids? Christmas Present.

I'm looking for recommendations for a slug gun for a couple of my grandchildren. Something to suit 10 year olds but suitable as they get a bit older.

To be used for tin cans, targets and all the stuff that supervised kids get up to.

I don't know anything about slug guns apart from the old bsa meteor I had as a kid. I think I would prefer break open spring loaded rather than gas, but am open minded. .177

Please don't make me spend too much though.

Gamo are pretty reliable, been around for along time. I've got an old 440 Hunter in 177 thats about 900fps, its well made. You probably want something in the 6-700fps perhaps.

Another option is just a bb gun, which shoots slower and is easier to handle as they run off CO2 canisters.

Check out Ron's airgun list and pricing here :

gamo now own bsa. pretty good guns for the money. there was a gamo pistol the PR15 which was pretty fun. when cocked it pre-compressed air ( 2 power settings) and auto loaded a 177 lead bb.
being pre-compressed air means no recoil and no gas cartridges !!

I have some Baikal break open ones that are around a similar FPS to the old Meteors. I have a link to my trade me auction below, but if you contact me via the forum I will do the same deal as listed free freight and include the two packs of ammo but I will also drop the price by 10%.

Note it also includes a replacement spring and seals for when it eventually starts to become "old".

They also have a "bear trap" ratcheting cocking system so they cannot spring shut part way through cocking if little hands lose grip....PM me if you are interested. If you want one I get get everything sorted so it is there by Christmas as long as it organised in the next few days. It would have to be with a courier by Wednesday at the latest, Tuesday make sure it arrives in time.

    Baikal 512M .177 Air rifle 750fps | Trade Me

Another one to keep an eye out for (and we dont have any left) is the QB79. It runs on CO2 and uses .177 pellets in a rifle that works just like a single shot 22LR. (Open bolt, put pellet in, close bolt, fire, repeat) and it is abut 600fps but with no spring involved, pretty much any cheap scope will handle the task....
