I'd go 7x57r, double rifles are hardly long range prospects and as such the 7x57 would have more than enough energy to do the job.

At what range are you going to regulate the barrels. Most are about 50 Metres, close range rifles., .303 maybe 150metres. Get the book Shooting the Double Rifle by Graeme Wright and have a read.

have you thought about trying some mild loads in the 9.3x74?
I wounder what sort of velocity you would get with the 9.3 and a case full of trailboss?

Price per KG like in the supermarket might be a bit scary, you reckon...?????

And I checked out the other pictures. That centre fire round (Or should that be small artillery piece?) must weigh more than the rifle....

That humming bird, double rifle sure is nice, problem with browsing, small bore double rifles, is one needs a lotto win, to afford the ones that really look nice. Sigh
The Fair I-side hammer double SxS rifle, I just priced was $6300 cad, $1400 for an extra 28ga shot gun barrel, the barrels set for my current SxS Safari, are likely going to be 2800-3000 depending on exchange.
I like a Merkel 141, but they twice the price,
I've got a few nice bolt actions, cooper's, sakos, and Law etc, but start playing with doubles, (shotguns or rifles)and things get expensive real quick.
