Thread: Smith and Wesson ar15

Has anyone had any Experience with the Smith and Wesson M&P15 Sport, What are they like? Are they reliable and accurate? What should one be paying for it? Are they compatible with other ar 15 parts?

AR10 is also a lot heavier.

Ar15's are for girls or people who do three gun!!!

Sure have not the lightest granted.The dpms g2 is better in that department

They get a good wrap for what they are.
They don't have a ejection port dust cover, as well as no forward assist, both not game changes unless you are on active duty.
I would rate them as a budget but good quality AR15.
Their barrels are 4140 steel, so not 4150 or CHF etc...
Just my 2 cents...

I have never used my forward assist on any of my Spikes AR's, and probably only a few times on my old Bushmaster & NEA a few years ago.
But looking back I would say the main reason for it not going fully into battery was the crappy 5-rnd magazines, which had too much upward force on rounds and onto the BCG... hence the FTF...

Know a few guys that tried to save money buying them, have been happy but have dumped extra money on minor upgrades( hand guards,gas block) could have bought slightly better first up and would have been cheaper

Love mine. Picked it up & extra mags from Gunsnz.com last year sometime when they were cheap.

Very accurate in either reloads or Hornady training ammo, I'm not rolling around in dust or mud so no need for a dust cover for me. They're just a budget AR platform - you can easily spend more money on something else though.

The forward assist has a use which is if you want to close the bolt quietly you ease it forward with the charging handle and then give the forward assist a tap to make sure it's fully in battery.

As far as Im aware of the Spear Mags are the only 7 rounders available in NZ.
