    Sonic cleaning of firearm parts

    Any body tried this?

I cleaned the working parts of my AR, slides and barrels of 3 pistols.

Used hot water and simple green and have to say I was impressed with the results.

Neither of them were really dirty but it was a lazy test and it did a nice job.
The carbon and dirt left in the cleaner after I removed all the parts was telling.
Carbon build up that takes a bit to remove rear of the rings on the bolt and inside the carrier on the AR come out perfectly clean.
Will try and do a few muzzle breaks when I am home next.😆

yea I have, works pretty good, I have a hornardy one and just use there solution, but there are dozens of different brews, guys use,
I think, I use mine for eng parts and the motor bike, lawnmower and boat carbs, more than rifle stuff. Brass comes out clean,
and so do shotguns parts, jamming up with carbon build up.

Yes, and love it. Mate has a big one that can fit a whole rifle in, uses it for his shotguns. I want one i can fit my whole shadow frame in

I could get a whole pistol in mine but apart from the mag well and ejector area my frames stay reasonably clean.
Takes no time to completely strip my 2011 slides so I chuck them in with all there bits.

I plan to do it every few thousand rounds or so.

I did this to the a bolt once and then dealt with rusting issues for the remaining time I owned the gun. Make sure that whatever you are using won't remove any protective coating and oil it all again afterwards.

    Goes without saying Massive.
It was a real concern for me before I did it.
My JP parts won't rust but I do worry about my pistols.
I have oiled them up but won't know if they will get any rust till I next get home.

Just a random thought, what about in the sonic bath, -instead of water based liquid - just use a oil based type of cleaner. Thinking kero etc.....
Would clean (maybe) and maybe leave a trace of product behind, then topped off with your favourite corrosion preventer?
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....

Want some reactive paper to wrap the disassembled frames/barrels/parts in? It's amazing stuff
