    Sonic modular suppressor

Are these suppressors any good went to forlongs today to go and fondle some rifles and they have the howa(which is the brand I have settled on unless the forlongs card allows me to put the CZ they have in 270 plus scope and rings on tick and yes I did fondle and really liked it) package with suppressor and Nikko sterling gameking scope(it will be replaced by a redfeild revolution or revenge at some stage) in 7mm08 which is the caliber I have decided to stay with as I already have some 7mm08 components for when I am ready to start reloading again (60 once fired brass and some 7mm 130gr speer hotcor projectiles downstairs). So are these suppressors good or are they crap one part of me is saying yes get the suppressor to save the ringing ears and the other is saying fuck the suppressor get the RCBS reloading kit. Cheers

Sweet as I will think about it won't be shooting at the range with it on apart from sighting in only after finding ammo that the howa likes the most and eventually load testing.

Very good value for money and with the ability to remove sets of baffle you can reduce length and weight if want to. Noise will increase if you go too short but you should be able to take a pair of baffles out with no effect noise wise. Just remember you are changing the way the barrel vibrates due to the change of weight, so grouping may change.

yeah fully aware of that used to have an mae can on a 308 I had and it used to change the POI and grouping but that thing was bloody heavy with it being stainless and it was attached to a mossberg atr 100, with the sonic I could not feel any difference in rifle weight with can on or off even holding the suppressor in my hand it was bloody light, I do like the idea of being able to disassemble it for cleaning purposes though

I am starting to lean heavily towards getting the suppressed package then my 15 year old boy can have a go at shooting it at the range when he comes up from Blenheim on one of his school holidays. Fingers crossed I will have the rifle at the end of the month if all goes well and to plan.

They work a treat. I'm only using 2 modules/baffles on my 223 and the noise is very easy on the ears.
    Handles rapid fire as well

I have the sonic 45 on my AR

My freand has the identical wepon with a NZ made suppresser.

mine is no louder or quieter then any of the nz made one.

the sonic has a lot more reduction in recoil, this could be due to the inturnal muzzle break inside it ??but not sure

Weight of my sonic was only a few grams more.

Half the price for the same things as far as I am concerned.

Would I buy one again HELL YES.

The problem with the sonic, is that the importer only brings them with 1/2" unf and 1/2"x28. Which is kind of Ok on a 233 or 243 but looks ridiculous on a7-08 or a 308. And if you look on the packaging, sonic suppressors can be produced with m14x1, and m18x1 among other threads.
Until they come with better threads, I will stick with NZ made stuff.(hardy, Mae and dpt)

No upgrade options with forlongs if you want a different suppressor they want you to buy it outright then it would leave me nothing in the budget to buy a scope to replace the nikko sterling with I refuse to hunt with an inferior scope after having one fog up last year while hunting which really ruined a trip that I had always wanted to do so I no longer trust any scope that is in the budget category.

What about buying second hand? Plenty for sale including a suppressor. Some of the chaps on the forum(s) might even let you do time payment. I know I would if I had one to sell. Its not as if second hand firearms are selling like they are houses in Auckland.

In process of getting a sonic, fella at work has one and is very impressed. DPT doesn't have the alloy to make them at the moment and I haven't heard anything about when it's arriving.

No I really want a brand new rifle and using my forlongs card is the only option as everytime I have got close to even having enough for a second hand rifle something always comes up and fucks me over and I am really over it, it happened to me earlier on this year when I was supposed to buy a rifle off neckshots mate I had a payment agreement together to buy that rifle then something went horribly wrong with my wagon and took all of that money in parts to fix it and as a result I had to back out of the deal which I really hate having to do as it makes me look like a complete cunt and time waster I am just really over hitting brick walls and I would rather just get one on the forlongs card and pay it off that way then there are no comebacks on anyone if something goes wrong also there is warranty cover if something goes wrong with the firearm plus buying on here is too hard as people want the money straight off the bat or paid off quickly to fund other rifle builds so no I won't go there on buying off people from here unless I can pay straight up cash for it so I can at least go hunting and not have to wait till things are paid off before I can. and after all of the shit I have been through in the last year I think I deserve to have something I really want.
