Hey team. Can anyone recommend a half decent handheld spotlight that won't break the bank? Mostly for spotlighting on a farm.

I very much doubt it. This is an old T6 Led light with range of 300 meters by manufacturer specs. Any modern Maxtoch far beyond it.. If you've compared this light with a Maxtoch it must be a very old one..

Yep you have to watch Chinese cheapies. This one says it uses a 4000mAh 18650 - they don't make those yet!!

Lightforce make good handhelds. The Maxtoch 2X and XPro rate up amongst their best - the HID lights - but at a fraction of price and weight, and no cables or batt systems. The cheapie mentioned above isn't in that class at all.

Moa - I see you're in Nth Canterbury - if you're coming to Chch soon bring your spottie and we'll do a lux/range comparison test with the Maxtochs - PM sent. Always good fun to see what's out there

Tropo - can lend you an XPro to test out if you haven't seen it..

might take you up on that, currently got 3 rifles as yet unfired i need to try first inc the new one i just got the mrs. a ruger 6.5 grendel suppressed

I use a couple my favourite is an old led lenser hokus focus also a led lenser basic headlight the other ine i use is a night sabre led spotlight it is light as doesnt even feel like its got a battery in it its by far the brighest light ive got but i find it to bright if theres such a thing i prefer my old lensers for some reason i can see aninals easier with the not so bright light for some reason if we are spottong from the 4wd ive also got a light force or something its pretty big so only suited to vehicles my night shooting is usually around 10 to 40 meters so dont need a light that can shine 600km

Yeah I guess a light that can shine 650 km's would be a bit bright for rabbit shooting, in fact for any sort of shooting really. Still I would be interested to see it in action

I tested a Maxtoch at measured distances on my property on my farmed deer. Out to 300 metres I could clearly see the deer. At 350 I could see the clear outline of the deer with no colour difference to the background so the deer appeared as a dark shape with a clear outline. I was impressed with this. The linked torches were better because of a wider beam and better shooting light. Would this be because of the bigger reflector ??
What are the new Maxtoch torches like compared to the above mentioned one

The main thing is the light to show up what is behind the animal you shoot at 300m. One of the 7 basic rules.

Moa - don't know what Maxtoch you were using. Can only think an early domed version. Present 2X and XPro would light things up v well at 300 and show fields well past that.

I'd like to test your light - a T6 LED is an older one and wider beam you mention actually means less distance. Yes bigger reflector will help but I can't see it in the modern 300,000+ lux range. XPro nearly 500k. Manufacturer says 300 meters.
