    Spotting Scope and Tripod Options

We have drawn a Tahr block again for next year and I figure I wouldn’t mind finally getting my own spotting scope to help with assessing animals. Ideally I would grab a Swaro but that isn’t looking like an option for the time being.

I’m looking middle of the road at the moment, eyeing up the Leupold SX4 15-45x65 and the Vortex Viper 15-45x65. Would appreciate some feedback from those with experience and in this area.

When the time comes I will be willing to pay the money for a quality lightweight tripod too so interested in options there.

    Cheers

    Spotting Scope and Tripod Options

Look at the Sirui a-1205 carbon tripod and y-11? Ball head combo. Hard to find better for the price and shop around for best deal.

I'd look pretty seriously at the Delta spotter over any of your mentioned options

I’m guessing you have given one a good workout down south and rate it?

I owned one of them and a swaro ATS at the same time. The swaro got sold...

I eventually sold the Delta also as I didn't see the need for a spotting scope but Ive managed to get it back again. Very impressive for the money

I had a vortex viper 65mm spotter for atleast 5 years. No issues with it and spotted alot of animals. Was a good compromise weight vs quality vs price. And has a good warranty if you kick it with your boot ontop of a mountain

Had it on a Manfrotto tripod which is 800grams. Goes up tall enough to sit behind but not stand

Here's the combo in a tahr block (Mahitahi)
