    Stainless Forbes rifle

    Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if Forbes made any rifles with a stainless action before they folded? And if any of these made it into NZ?

Just doing my homework on a 24b in 280/280AI (& how they compare against a Kimber).

    Cheers & thanks in advance.

Don't think they did. I have a 20b. The action is coated in something that seems to be very effective at stopping rust. The stainless Harrell is showing more rust externally than the action

I have one too and no issues at all with the action bluing, however the barrel seems to pick up grime / discolouration and seems slightly porous. I wouldn't say it has rust though. Doesn't seem to be like any of my other stainless barrels - almost as if it is a coating with a slightly rough texture rather than true smooth steel. What do you make of it @Perazzi ?

The Forbes rifles use barrels made by US manufacturer E.R. Shaw and they have been media blasted with sharp garnett hence the grime attraction, smooth garnett blasted barrels like sakos stay cleaner longer

Thanks fellas. I've just placed my order. If it does become an issue in the future I guess it can always be coated.

It shouldn't be getting any gas/carbon on it from the suppressor ?

What should I be looking for to identify the leak? Hasn't run many rounds through it. Can I take off the bush and check for damage or imperfections?
