    Stevens stock paint job

I got bored quite some time ago with the boring grey plastic of my/sons Stevens 223 . So, this week off came the stock and on went 2 coats of Multiversal self priming, self undercoating roof paint left over from the roof painting:

Then on went some stone finish paint in a can from Mitre 10, and topped with a couple of coats of olive drab Tamiya model paint that was hanging around. Looks and feels like a $500 B&C now, we'll see how it lasts !!

Good job. The texture looks like it would be nice and grippy.

    Hey KJ

Its holding up pretty well at the mo..........

There are a couple of small patches, prollyless than a sq cm that have just popped off, I reckon they didnt get degreased properly. the pistol grip is smoothing a bit but not rubbing off. My boy loves it and has done the one off my model 12 Savage that I took off just for the hell of it. I'll pop a pick up soonish

I worked years ago in the plastic moulding industry and occasionally we painted the plastic products. Can't for the life of me remember the brand but you can get a etching primer specially for plastic.

    Cool, thanks for the up-date.

Quite topical as I'm just doing the final touches on a HTS stock (bedding, fitting a Limbsaver to it etc...) and was thinking about what paint finish to use. I've got a Tikka M595 that was painted (by someone else) and that paint is absolutely amazing, it still looks great after about 10 years use! Just wish I knew what it was??

Anyway if anyone has a secrete recipe do tell?
