    Straight pull rifles

I have recently become very interested in these rifles. In particular the "Biathalon style " .22's
I am aware of one brand for sale on Gun Cities web site but looking for something nicer.

For the right rifle I would trade a A1 Sako .222

    Very nice -

I used to shoot target small bore with a 1913 and my dad had a 1917 (left handed - me right....) new, that came from factory with a 10 proof shot card, that was one hole group at 50m. Bloody nice bits of kit. Can't say that either of us could shoot that well though....... it certainly wasn't the rifle leading to bad shots.....

I'm keen on getting another one, and would like a straight pull as well (but not a blazer.....)

Yep, Anschutz 1727 straight pull would be my pick as well.

They are quite a bit heavier than the equivalent bolt action silhouette rifles (and more expensive).
There must be a lot more moving parts, like the Blaser, so perhaps not as good after a soaking in the proverbial feijoa crumble. Maybe not such a problem for a recreational .22.

Yeah its definitely the price that stops me getting an Anshultz.
I looked at a T bolt, but it felt quite clunky and a little fragile in the action.
With the 1727 it looks like a nice slick action, but that 4 1/2 K .......wow
Volquartsen ( rebadged Summit T3 ) is another, handy that it swaps parts in general with the venerable 10/22 but I havent seen any in NZ.

Izmash would be a goer. And Lynx, but they dont appear to do a .22 anymore.

I dont know what it is about them, but I definitely think they are cool ( straight pulls )

Agreed. Izhmash are a good one but hard to find for sale. There are a few about but the ones I now of will likely never be available for sale as the owners will not part with them.

I thought KIDD made one at one point as well, also based on the 10/22 platform.

If you are interested in an Izhmash biathlon rifle then I suggest you contact Russianz Ltd as they are importers of Kalashnikov products.
Izhmash has a different business model, in that you order the rifle and then they build it.

The action you are after I think is what is known as the fortner action, commonly purchased with Anshutz rifles for biathalon and similar.

I did track down a biathalon builder in the US that you could by actions or full rifles from including those with Fortner actions..

    hope that helps..
