    Stuck bits- Tikka

    Hi All,

Just been doing a few adjustments to a rifle I picked up second hand.

The trigger spring wont come out of the hole as it seems stuck. I have a replacement spring but nothing I have done could get it out.

Also, the bolt handle is stuck with excessive spring tension when I try to change the handle out. Even with the bolt in a vice and some gentle taps, the handle will not move.

I fear that even if I get it out I may not be able to get it back in as there is no play in the spring when its supposed to be in position to remove the handle...

    Any ideas?

    Something’s wrong

I don’t know enough to say what, but I’d take it to a competent gunsmith you trust

It may be as simple as some crud at the bolt face, or there may already be some damage

Bottom line is both my tikka!s are smooth as silk so any deviation from that means something is definitely awry

Get it checked before you bugger it up

    Is the chamber empty????????

I don't think his bolt is stuck, sounds like he is trying to take the handle off the bolt (to replace with a different handle).

I'm Not a complete idiot lads!!

    Just half.

The shroud was off as this is my 5th Tikka (cue the haters) so I'm fairly familiar with the shroud/handle and trigger spring.

Solved both issues this morning with a more convincing tap on the bevelled edge which showed a fairly rough finish so it wouldn't slide out. The new handle slid in easily.

The trigger spring was also deformed on the last ring so it was catching on the threading for the grub screw.
I used a small screw, large enough to catch the spring and small enough to miss the threads to grab the spring and pull it out.

    Pretty happy with the result.

    The calibre is 6.5 creedmoor.

Thanks for the comments both sarcastic and helpful!! And maybe even the condescending ones too?

Awesome where did you get your trigger spring from
So the new spring brings the trigger down to what weight.
Have you tried the 6.5 Creedmore out yet as I'm tossing up weather to get one or not.

Not yet mate. Its second hand and looks like it prefers the 123 eldm from what the last owner said.

This spring is from Aus. I'll try to find the link!! You can also Google the yo Dave version from eBay. Arrived pretty quickly and breaks nice. It's on my son's .223 was about $30 shipped.
