    Stuck Bullet fix

Well Dodged a Bullet today, Wanted to try a suppressed load through my 7.62x39 and found some old load data from when I had a Suppressed Norinco Bushranger. Loaded one up the same with powder and filler in the case, all I got was a quiet fart to be accurate and nothing came out the front. Bugger a stuck steel core bullet half way down the barrel, Tried the ramrod then a steel rod and hammer with much trepidation . No it wasn`t going to budge!! then I remembered an old adage from my Muzzle loading ,you can`t over fill a Muzzleloader barrel with black powder. So I filled the barrel from the breach and compressed the powder then filled a empty primed case and loaded it. Tied the rifle behind a tree and pulled the trigger with a string ,just in case. Yep it went off, barrel clear and no damage done, barrel is still pristine. Can`t say I want to go through that again.

It only solved the problem if a lesson was learnt from it...in the first instance.

Moral don't use steel cored projectiles in subsonic loads, the government obviously knew what they were doing when they banned them.

Always used steel Chinese ammo for sub loads as they tumble. Marty could you advise Gun City the Norinco steel cased ammo they are currently selling is banned?

Steel case and copper washed steel jackets ammunition isn't banned though many people think it is because a magnet stick to the projectile.
The grey area is the daft police description of enhanced penetration mentioning steel cored and armour piercing in the same sentence.
Some chinese ammo has a mild steel core. The only way to tell is to hacksaw one open if you find steel and can cut through it then it's not a penetrator in my opinion and should be OK. But plod has the final say I suppose.
I bet a lot of ammunition was unnecessarily surrendered just because of steel jackets.
I only replied as I did tongue in cheek because you mentioned it was steel cored .
Tipple and gun city are smart enough to be above board with this I'm sure,

Had a CCI HP stuck in my .22 for no reason. Pulled the projectile of another round, loaded the cartridge and pulled the trigger with a bit of wire from behind a wall. Worked no problem. Never used CCI again...

After a bit of time to think about it the Norinco Bushranger would have had a .312 bore perhaps even larger and the Ruger has I think a .309 - .310 bore. Probably just enough tighter to cause the blockage issue. Put hundreds of suppressed loads the same through the Norinco and never an issue.
