    A stupid question

Hi all this may be a stupid question but do i need a import permit for a recoil pad?
Had a look on the police website and it wasn't quite definitive as it is a firearm part but not serialized like say a action or barrel so not quite sure any idea's
    thanks in advance

Surely not, I wouldn’t define it as integral to the firearm. But I suppose it’s up to the powers above to define that.

part, in relation to any firearm or restricted weapon,—
    (a)
    means—
    (i)
any component that, of itself, is essential to the discharge of any shot, bullet, missile, or other projectile from the firearm or restricted weapon; and
    (ii)
any component that is exclusively designed to be, or is intended to be, an integral part of the firearm or restricted weapon (for example, a butt, stock, magazine, or other component that feeds or contributes to feeding ammunition to the firearm or restricted weapon); and

Last time I checked, the view of the cops (yup, they make shit up as they go along...) was that if it attaches to a firearm, you need a permit.

It is not hard applying for a permit, download the form, do it in digital form so you have a backup (in case it gets lost...) and submit.

You could of course also try phoning your local arms officer, or if you have lots of time the central firearms unit to get an answer.

If it was me, I'd just do the paperwork as a precaution.

Or for a firmer edition use a section of Cavallino tyre, (for a more staunch look you could use a section of Desert Dueler tyre!)

@257 Weatherby i did consider the jandle idea, could have bought one locally but was looking for a specific type of pad to match the era of the rifle I'm refinishing,
