    Styer Mannlicher

    Looking for info.
There is a steyr that I've seen lately with a mounting system I haven't seen before
I have no Photos But perhaps the panel will be able to suss the model

It is a 308 and a damn good looking rifle, is walnut/Blued

The forward mount looks quite conventional but the back mount is on the left hand side of the receiver only
When the bolt is taken out there is no bridge part between the two sides of the back of the receiver, there is a gap, hence the mount on the left hand side as looking down when holding right handed
It has only one trigger and the forward sling swivel is on the barrel.?
    What do you think?

Its a turn off system, pretty common on euro rifles up to the 70's or so.

The mount you describe was used from the original MS (1903s 1908s, 1910s etc) through to the 1950s/60s MC models

Check out this link if you scroll down you will find heaps of pictures of the different models - they made these from early 1900s to the 1960s

    er-schoenauer/

I missed the bit about it being a 308 so yes it will be one of the later ones obviously

    Thanks shamus
Of all of them it is the closest to this

Butt stock shape isn't quite the same to my eye and fore end but could be the angle, memory evades me about the schnabel and the buttstock was beautiful.
Wood not the same as in this but equally as spectacular more of an oil finish on the one I saw. could be the photo, sort of looks a bit older though
Front sling swivel in the right place, looks like mounting system is the same and single trigger
    Great looking rifle.
