Yes the 35 cal is an excellent choice people seem to forget that in the Black powder era bullet diameter was important as velocity was only 1500fps or less
The .35 cal was used as a small game cartridge the same as the .22rf is now it is only since smokeless powder that the .22rf has taken over from the .35 as a target
round even the Europeans used 8mm to 9.5mm black powder cartridges for target shooting/small game.
