I have a classic Brno 2E, family heirloom thats been sitting in the safe for a while.
Looking for a 40mm max objective, mil-dot ideally as I like to hold over for different ranges when sighted in at 50m.
1 inch tube. def not 30mm.
Don't want a tacticool scope, nice lines that won't break the bank.
suggest some brands and models too look at please.
If you can find one, A nikko Airking make a great scope for a 22. Wont break the bank and very decent scopes. Or for an older gun like that, a older style Leupold fixed power or weaver etc.....I will have d dig around in the boxes from the shop stock- there might be something in there.....Quote:

adding to that I had same problem putting scope on my Sako Vixen finding one that fitted while leaving back sight on- leupold Vari II fitted on sako okay BRNO 2 a lot harder - put my Leupold 1.5 - 5 on it and never felt under scoped - it is sad to see a lot of nice BRNO 2 for sale and back sight missing blade and bridge - just base leftQuote:

I like the leupold 3-9x33? EFR. It’s a vx3 series but it does have your reticle choice. So….
have a look at the Tract rimfire series with BDC reticle. Zero on 50 yds and moa drop marks for each 25 yards past that to 150 yds with high/hyper velocity ammo.
Now your going to have to do that on top power and the drops will be unique to your ammo rifle combo. 3-9 and 4-12 to choose from. 4-12 would be my choice I think.

I have a Tasco on mine from new late 80s.
You would be surprised how many rifles of that era were fitted with similar.

Back sight removed to allow fit.
okay but the earlier BRNO no 2 the base of the back sight was sleeved onto the barrel as a complete circular piece good luck removing that -

yes I had a quick look at Gun City site - sobering and surprised me - of 12 Mod 2 Brno for sale 11 of the 12 had blade and bridge missing - I wonder where those blades and bridges ended up -Quote:

a nice , period correct Redfield or Tasco or Weaver would be nice. Putting a modern scope on an older rifle just looks silly

fixed 6x M8 works well..... currently wearing fixed 3x m8 and works well too.
The nuances of a Brno is the high bolt lift means you cannot mount a scope too low without altering the bolt handle a bit and if you have a larger diameter eye piece the bolt can hit it. So medium mounts and slim scopes. Longer tubes with put the rear of the object bell in front of the rear sight blade and over the ramp so you keep the sight intact. Ie Tasco 6x40 and many others eg leupold.

I had a similar issue with another 22LR and the rear sight could not be removed. Solution was a longer (higher magnification scope) that flared out further along and meant the rear sight was now under the inch tube part....Or slightly higher rings...or better yet a scope like a 1-4x that does not have the bell end or a compact like my second picture (I still have that somewhere here.....Quote:

This one was done not because the sight was in the way but I needed access to the breech to load it and a normal scope over top made it awkward....
Old school leupold or meopta. Keep an eye open on TM

If you want classic an old 4x32 or x40, dont really need much more than that on a sporting 22lr. And back in the classic day a duplex reticle was as fancy as it got, you had to learn the skill of holding over
Dunno if I would call a Brno .22 a classic? The only thing that should be on one that fits with its classicness is an old 4x Bushnell, Tasco or a Bentley.
If an old Brno is a classic then so are the Toz rifles. And the Stirlings.
Depends if you want to have good clear optics or find a period scope that looks the part. I have several brnos and find the little 2-7 leupolds fit the bill well. I have a model 1 with original meopta straight tube scope of the period but it’s not your modern day clear as crystal optics.
Certainly the older Brnos are classic ( in my book!)
