I'm looking to put a sunshade on my Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44. Swarovski don't make anything for it.
Here's the tricky bit and hopefully someone has tackled it before...
- Outer tube diameter = 50mm
- Objective lens = 44mm
- Objective filter thread = 46mmx0.75
The thread of 46mm is fairly standard as far as camera objective lenses go (had a yarn with the guy at the camera shop).
My issue is that all of the sunshades I can find online that are either 44mm or 50mm don't specify anything about thread depth or diameter of the barrel. Most of them say e.g. "sunshade for 44mm scope" or "50mm sunshade" - which doesn't give any clear indication of whether they are for a) a standard 44/50mm scope, or b) for a scope with an outer tube diameter of 44/50mm, and therefore probably an objective lens of 40mm.
I'm thinking the latter is probably the better bet i.e. 'X'mm sunshade will correspond to the diameter of the tube.
Cheers,
