    Suppressed 270 question.

I'd be interested to know what the muzzle blast increase is like from a suppressed 270 going from 22" and then cut down to 20" with a normal suppressor.

If anyone here has done it and can share their experience I'd appreciate it.

    Cheers

    Thank you.

The mighty flame thrower will throw some extra flame.might wanna put a magnum suppressor on it and let it eat!

20 inch will be fine with most suppressors, is running a dpt chuck a stainless baffle in there or as yesmate said above run a magnum suppressor that is rated for something holding a bit more powder.
I ran my 270 at 18 inches with great results, that was with a Waitaki fully steel suppressor which a pretty bomb proof though

Here's my DPT that I've been running on my 20" 270win for 7 years. Probably had at least 50 rounds through it. Baffles in order of disassembly. If I was going with a new suppressor I'd get a stainless baffle for the first one.
Makes a huge difference to the noise of the shot. Takes all the boom out of it so it's tolerable without hearing protection. Still use ear plugs on the range though.

I put a DPT muzzle brake on the 30 cal one I use for my 30-06. Tames it nicely
I know a lot but it seems less every day...

I have a 20" 270 with a stealth suppressor on it, it's plenty pleasant to shoot, I've probably only put 40 rounds through it since suppressing though so can't comment on wear

yeah i had a 270 remmy with hardy suppressor on it- barrel was 20 or 22 inch- it was wayyyyyy better shooting it in the bush than without the suppressor. Dont recall any flames or flash.

Thanks Rumpy, out of interest, why would a stainless baffle reduce the blast and noise more? How does that work? Is it about, weight, metal density of a stainless baffle.
Maybe friwi could chime in if he's about. Love the dpts on my gear.

It wont really help much with the sound, but will help the suppressor last a bit longer as it will cop the bulk of the blast vs the aluminuim baffle

Sorry, the way I wrote that was a bit misleading. The last paragraph was talking about the suppressor overall. I don't know what difference a stainless baffle would make. I mentioned I would get a stainless baffle to eliminate the wear on the first baffle as seen in the photo.
If someone from DPT has any advice about changing baffle order to even out wear I'd love to know what you recommend.

The ss blast baffle SEEMS to decrease noise quite a bit more.does on mates 25/06 wearing my old DPT can. My howa is couple inches longer barrel than RUMPYs and honestly can't notice real world difference in noise.

I've compared a stainless steel baffle vs an aluminium baffle on a 22 inch 308.
No noticeable difference in noise and recoil reduction.
There was however a very noticeable difference in longevity.

I run a 18inch 270wsm with a dpt magnum can with no issues even though the can is only rated to 20inch with that caliber. Used to be 24inch prior to the chop. Maybe slightly more noise now, but definitely more muzzle lift. Can still spot shots if well setup.
