Thread: Suppressed AR15 Rigle Lenght "Over gas" problem?

Hello everyone, hope most of you here already had a go in this beginning of roar.

A little advise needed. I suppressed my AR, now I feel it start to get a bit "cranck" in the buffer area as I fire it.
I read and follow a thread in here and the "normal" suggestion at the time was to go for a adjustable gas block, however, the rifles in question was carbine or shorter Lenght then.
My rifle is a Stag Arms model 6 "chopped" down from 24" to 18" on a AIL "A" cat stock(soon to be changed) and it has a MAE .223 compact suppressor.

My questions are:
Do I need to go for a adjustable gas block?
A heavier buffer or "stronger" spring will "help"?

Please, some helping advise will be appreciated.

Get and adj gasblock, I have a 16 inch barreled AR with Mid Length gas system and JP Adjustable gas block, It makes the world of difference truely. You can adjust it so it gets fed "just enough and not too much" Also stops the majority of the "bounce" when the carrier bottoms out and changes direction

An adjustable gas block is what you need, a heaver buffer is also often handy with a can in my experience-you can often just add weight to the one you have

+1 for the JP adjustable gas block. I have 2 of them on backorder with GunsNZ.com at present and they should have some extras in stock in a few weeks time. I have an AR in here for repair that was blowing bolt heads due to high volume firing with a suppressor fitted, commercial use situation though.

Yeah, where's the best place to get a good adjustable gas block? Took my suppressor off as I didn't enjoy the gas in eyes when firing my 16" AR.

If you have a std charging handle then adding a little black silicone to it makes a very effective and cheep poor mans gas buster charging handle. It's surprising how much it helps

Last heard he was waiting on nea who were developing them.

Hopfully they develop one with a click adjustable dial for tool free adjustment

I solved my over gassing issue by going to adjustable. Out of curiosity do you run the bead of silicone down the channel in the charging handle? Be quite effective i would of thought.

No, you need that channel for the gas key on the bolt carrier to move in as the rifle cycles.
You use the silicone to shield the gaps around the hole in the back of the upper, there are some good guides on the AR forums on how to do it but most aftermarket charging handles are now shaped to do the same thing.

That probably seemed like a stupid question... I meant towards the end of the charging handle in channel ;-)

Be funny though if someone silicone'd the whole thing lol
