    Suppressing a Scattergun??

Apart from a couple of clips on you tube, and the famous No Country For Old Men guy, not much is said about suppressing a shotty. Thinking that a m2 benelli with a can and holograpghic would be awesum on bunnys. Especially where noise is an issue. Wonder if you could integrate it into the choke tube set up? Opinions??

I know its going to fuck up the pointability and all the nice shooting characteristics but I'm not asking it to be an Olympic clay shooter. It could have a tac stock and foregrip too just to really wreck it some more

One of the guys i shoot with has a Laporte Under and Over he uses on clays to great effect. Very quiet when used with subsonic reloads (messes up your timing though) and can shoot it without muffs with std factory trap loads too, not that much louder.

Im thinking like an over barrel maximus sort of deal, guessing it will have to be quite a big volume to work properly. would be very keen to see some pics if someone out there has done it.

Do want. BUT, I wouldnt want it any longer than the original barrel length.

I did see this a while ago.

    12 gauge shotgun suppressor + 65cm barrel - STEP / IGES, STL, Other - 3D CAD model - GrabCAD

Also, Sub Silent has done one iirc (he's out west auckland from memory)

    #949 – .12 gauge shot-gun suppressor for Steve | Sub-Silent Suppressors

Keen to hear how you get on.

yeah definitely want it on a 18" barrel so as to not f up the handling. Maybe another thread but how short can you go on a shotty? before losing performance/pattern of course, and keeping above minimum length

I saw EBS style one in Palmy H&F a while back and it just looked like a slightly fatter shotgun - talk to ALL the suppressor makers and see what they can offer?

Doing it at the moment - 18" barrel with a slip-on suppressor from the UK.
Just starting to develop the subsonic 12ga steel and lead loads, waiting for the reloading data to arrive from the USA.

Slip-on also works with full power loads, takes the boom out of it.

Whisper, can you post some pics of your setup? Did you have to modify the barrel at all?

Pretty sure suppressing shortie is illegal for game birds.
    Ok for rabbits.
