    Suppressor Advice

Hi all, I am looking at buying a suppressor for my 308, I haven't had one before and just want to know peoples thoughts / advice on which ones are worth it and which are shit. Budget is anywhere up to $5/600. I don't need the best just whatever works well. Cheers

If your willing to spend around the 5-600 mark, you wont get better value than the ATEC H2. At that price point theres nothing better on the market currently that im aware of for both weight and noise supression.

I agree. DPT are very good for the price and totally excellent backup but Atec are another step up entirely.

For clarity I have 5 dpts and 2 atec (H2 and H2 Mega)

Not really comparable to an atec
But definitely cheaper and great for the average kiwi hunters needs

Dpt for me. Cheap, quiet enough to shoot over a dog, easy to pull apart and clean and lots of spare bits if you ever need anything else.

    agreed!

not the quietest or the lightest, but an overall great product. Modular, versatile, and you can actually clean it!

Awesome advice, thanks very much. I like the idea of spares so will most likely go with a DPT, chur

Have one DPT and one Gunworks, both around the same price and I'm happy with both.

Actually on that note regarding suppressor cleaning, i did wonder when cleaning a rifle or rifles after a hunt or range day...how many clean the suppressors?.

My two are Hushpower therefore not able to be dismantled like a DPT. I don't lock my guns away with the suppressor attached but last time I cleaned the rifle I removed and cleaned the suppressor the same way, that is cleaning brush, patches etc. Is that good practice for a suppressor or over the top?.

Every few months I strip my DPT, put the components in the ultrasonic cleaner, with a little detergent. Considerable carbon dislodges and it may need a couple of goes, then rinse in warm water, dry and assemble with a little grease ... I like silicone grease.
