Suppressor choices

I'm looking for a lightweight suppressor for my Sako 223, and am very interested in what you guys consider to be the best for your purposes.

Uber lightness?, or reduced flame cutting with stainless inserts like the Maxim, or super quiet regardless of weight like MAE offerings?

We´ve been working for the past year on our S series suppressors.

The end result is a lightened variant of the S series S5 suppressor called the SL5.

The main difference is the significant reduction in weight from c. 600g ( 21.15 oz) to about 390-420g ( 13.75 - 14.8 oz )

Technical specifications:

Calibres
- .223 ( all .22 centrefire cartridges )
- .25 ( 6mm calibres, .243 Win, 6.5x55 etc. max bullet diameter 6.7mm )
. 30 ( all .30 calibre, non-magnum calibres )

Diameter: 44.5mm ( 1.75" )
Added length: 98 mm ( 3.85" )
Weight: 390 - 420 g ( 13.75 - 14.8 oz, dependant on thread piece )
Net sound suppression: 24-27 dB ( A-peak )
Material: 300 series stainless steel, fully welded

In addition to the thread mounting version, the SL5 is available as the fast attaching SL5-BL variant for 7.62mm bolt action and semi auto sniper weapons, either with a flashhider or muzzle brake mount.

To our knowledge, the SL5 is the worlds smallest and lightest steel made suppressor, that is hearing safe.

Currently in final product testing are SL7 models in .30 and .338 LM calibres.

390-420 isnt much to get excited about
end can types arnt much to get excited about unless they are really light

Id look to dpt for a suitable and better replacment than that

My over barrel suppresser for my ar15 is great for sound suppression and is 190 grams. part of the weight savings is due to the lack of isolating tube, not dpt tho and you cant get one like it

If you aren't shooting tons through it at a time the New DPT as madjon has just said
I've got one, goes nicely. Adds 150mm to the length. Easy to break down to clean.
There's a thread on them elsewhere here.

I have a Reflex T8 on my Sako 75 .223.
Its bit of an overkill, but at least I know it won't bulge etc.
As Barefoot mentions, unless you are doing rapid fire (unlikely in a bolt action), you can go a lighter alloy model.

Keep the ASE for an AR or similar, as the ASE's are built bullet proof for use in a semi auto.

What about those printed ti ones.

Those DPT Modular cans are nice.

The A TEC are a nice can for light weight work. A good heavy can helps a lot for offhand shooting ;)

Oceania Defence Samson Titanium Suppressor fitted to a 12.5" NEA. Overall length of this gun is less than the standard 14.5". The colour is a very close match to the current NEA Receivers. It weighs next to nothing.

I now have out a 95gram modular can suppressor, 34.5mm diameter 117mm total length, suited to upto a 223.

Its the top one in the picture, the mini can is the one at the bottom, the sound reduction of the two are the same.

Nice... I'll be getting one of your standard weight cans for my AR soon. Had a go with Beavis' one on my AR. Nice weight and brought it down to 22mag noise.

Hi, I have all the bits in stock so put the suppressor togther when I know the thread and cal the customer wants.

Got to say my DPT modular for 22 weighs as much as a duck fart and is incredibly quiet.

But a review of the 223 version would be interesting to read and see Bill.

What do you think of the DPT ?

I love my DPT on my tikka 223, just in the process to get another one muzzle forward to my 7mm MAG
Go DPT, I trust it.

Great light and works mint
If your getting an over barrel mesure your barrel 4 inches back from the thread and get dpt to open out the hole in the bush to the correct size


I didn't and haven't and it's annoying not having the bush in

Over barrel modular is on my 243 and muzzle forward on my 12 inch ar15 both work mint

Has there ever been a bad word spoken of DPT? Just thinking and I cant recall any negative feedback on them

Cant rate my MAE ST model enough. Weight is comparable to others on the market, yet slim and full steal construction so can take a thrashing. Did a noise comparison at the range, beat my hardy, my brothers DPT and his gunworks maximus.
