Suppressor issue.
My mate has just got a .17HMR with a suppressor on it and I noticed that at some stage (looks like once only) a bullet has just clipped the side of the hole on exiting and has left a small mark/bruise on the metal. Knowing how critical the crown on the end of a barrel can be in regards the accuracy of the rifle we were wondering if this mark on the suppressor would affect accuracy in any way? The rifle does not seem to be clipping it now and we are assuming that the owner may have fired it at some stage with the suppressor not tightened correctly.
Any thoughts on this?

Is it accurate with the mark there ?

did the same thing with my 7.62x39mm so got proactive and enlarged end hole SLIGHTLY smoothing out the crease at same time.....it hasnt effected accuracy with that suppressor which gets used on two rifles.

things like that sometimes happen when suppressors work them self loose
check bore alignment with a cleaning rod, or a torch down the barrel

A nick in the suppressor is not the same as a damaged crown, as the projectile should not make contact with the suppressor, whereas the crown is vital for accuracy as its the last part of the barrel that has any contact with the projectile.
Sounds like the thread on the barrel may not be concentric with the bore.
