How important is it to have a shoulder on the thread?
Also how/why is important the rear bush has to be exact with barrel size?

Need to have a small shoulder for thread to pull up on. . . . Or have a suppressor that pulls up on the face of barrel like some brakes.
Amd bush shouldn't be same size should have a little clearance .1mm I give all mine as if it's touching or snug will affect accuracy.

Ok so if I've got a threaded barrel done by an approved guy with no shoulder its a no go?
Dpt can.

how do you put a thread on a barrel with out forming a shoulder?
did he turn the barrel down after threading?
greg
Buy shoulder I mean the blank area at end of thread you normally see.

are you talking about the thread run out?
most suppressors don't need it, but most smiths still do it as it gives a nice neat finish and eliminates the possibility of the suppressor or thread protector bottoming out.
nothing to worry about.

my take on it..rear bush needs to be close to if not touching (GW touch) to keep can aligned properly..thats the single point EVERYONE has as advantage of overbarrel vs stuck on end/muzzle forward. I put my Spartan from my .223 onto my .22lr checked alignment with cleaning rod and made barrel SLIGHTLY fatter with insulation tape so bush was snug. if its loose and gets a knock it COULD bend causing bullet strike.
If it has a isolation tube the rear bush should have clearance, just a bit as tuiman said.
Even if it had a mm clearance it would still be neat enough to eliminate the possibility of tweeking the thread.
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.
308Win One chambering to rule them all.
I got told must be 0.1 then if you have a fall it will still flex and contact Harrell way before bending. I had them come back tight as and always made then looser. One undid the bush every time you undid the suppressor.
"This is my Flag... Ill only have the one ..
I used my DPT for months without a bush at all, I reckon it's not necessary
The sole Real advantage of an overbarrel is being able to be slightly shorter than a muzzle can IMO
My Waitaki is hard on the barrel which is how I like it. Never had an accuracy problem with it either, in fact that is how I prefer it as on and off the gun rack I believe would actually cause problems in time.
