Hi all
Had a round very slightly clip the very end of suppressor just prior to exiting.
I think it was a cast subsonic round.
Rifles a bergara 1/8 twist 16.5 inch barrel 308.
Suppressor was tight.
Any advice on why it’s happened?

nope, but I did same thing with two of them with same loads...... kind of too kthe gloss of using them somewhat...I smoothed suppressor out and carried on using it...subs after that were bare barrel only.
75/15/10 black powder matters
Yea made me nervous, the subs were shooting more accurately than supers too!!
I've seen some wonky factory threads (.22lr only) but if it's a new thing I'd be looking for shit in the threads.
Casting flaw and the pill going out of rotational concentricity?
Marginally stabilized pills?
Luck of the day?
Could be a thousand reasons, very hard to offer advice like this.
Is the suppressor true to the bore? Look down the bore from receiver with suppressor fitted. You should be able to eyeball any significant inconsistency.
If it is out of whack it could be the base has "belled" unevenly from a hot load and the suppressor body is no longer concentric with the bore.
Gut feeling is that it has to do with the cast bullet though.
Hi Guys havent had any baffles strike myself ,but noted that the shot has pulled when a can is on .
what i do now to all builds now regardless of make -strip the barrel down and if it is already threaded
fit into a good lathe and check the runout of barrel and supp. combo
it was interesting to find that even some of the better factory threads were offline and when readdressed groups tightened right up ..
Aim Small Miss Small
possibly too small of a projectile not enough bearing surface on the buffet for the it to tabeize loveren bullet style molds have a bearing surface double the amount to most cast bullet molds just a thought cheers
I had to true the shoulder of a 16” bergara b13 barrel the other day because of a similar issue with the factory thread. The bore had a slight bend into it. If you do not use proper indicating rods it is very hard to pick by eye, specially with such a short barrel.
are they causing oval holes or anything other than perfect circles at any range on paper?
I run a very long dpt with tons of extra baffles and nothing subsonic gets to go thru the suppressor till it gets 10 or more on paper
the 190gr cast would keyhole for me in my 1-11 tikka 308 subsonic so I needed to step down to the 151gr hollow points
Nah I didn’t see any issues on paper and being a 1/8 twist assumed it would stabilise the subsonic cast round without issue.
