    Suppressor thread adaptors

Hello - does anyone know of a outfit in NZ that offers thread adaptors, I see they are readily available in the US and Canada for US$18 and up, but no-one here has put their had up on the interweb (at least that I can find) . . .

I want one to go from 14x1RH to 5/8x24.

    Cheers

You can get an adapter that slides on your barrel (I think that's how it works ) and the other end is threaded not sure what the thread is though, from Reloaders Supplies. Not sure if that's what your after.

Have you talked to engineering shops or a gunsmith? I had a good look around as I now have a couple of 5/8 cans that don't have a rifle to go on. Couldn't find anything. Wouldn't think one would be hard to make

Would ask the manufacturer of the suppressor, wouldn't take much to be out of alignment for the hole in the end to change shape.

The DPT ones are great as the blast chamber can be replaced with one with the required thread and use you baffles if the right size.

Any competent fitter and turner should be able to make one it’s just an internal and external thread
The question will be if you have enough meat between the sizes

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

You are dead right with that one:
The female thread in 14x1 is going to be a tiny bit more than 14mm diameter .
The male 5/8-24 will have a bottom grove around 14.88.
That leaves less than 0.44mm of thickness of material. Definitely not ideal if the two threads are on top of each others.

I'm asking cause I have a couple of rifles with 14x1 threads and two suppressors, one 14x1 and one DPT 5/8x24 - they are quite different types as well. My AR replacement is pretty compact, even with an 18" barrel its bloody short. I asked Friwi at DPT about a new back end, and its over $200 (and its great that his design is clever enough to be modular so a replacement is possible).

However adapters from overseas range between US$20 to $40 or so. In the configuration I need they can't be "on top of each other" as Nic has pointed out, so typically they extend the barrel length by half an inch or so.

I sorta thought that with AR configured suppressors becoming "surplus" and frequently having the 5/8 thread there might be a wee market that someone local might be looking at meeting. I know how simple they are to make, but I also know that the first one won't be cheap either (but 10 will be), hence I thought a bit of a query might prompt something . . . . . I'll happily get one from Canada but would prefer a Kiwi one if it's possible in a cost effective way.

Yep 100% man. I'm in the same boat. Ended up just buying a rifle with a thick enough barrel for a 5/8 thread
