    Swaro Z5 5x25 -52

Hi everyone I am new here, I wanted to ask has any one got or used a Swarovski rifle scope Z5 5x25 x 52? I am looking to buy one to go on a 204 ruger. I have a weaver 4 x 16 44 at the present time not a bad scope but wish to shoot a bit more yardage 300 + and a bit later in the evening, just Rabbits. The rifle make may change but will still be a 204R. Thanks for any info. Regards

I have a Z6 2.5-15 x 44 on my rabbit gun (20 Tactical). Awesome glass, and the BR reticle in it works well for varminting. The Z5 should be just as nice. Personally, I would put a 3.5-18 on it rather than the 5-25. Lower power makes it easier to find things and 18 is heaps for 300m rabbits. I have shot rabbits to just under 500m with mine without any problems (with the scope...)

Thanks for that I think just over $2000, I have a 6500 4.5 x 30 x 50 on my AR 223. On 30x I lose a bit late afternoon so have to wind it down. If I use 18 X on the 5-25 x 52 do I loose anything over the 3.5 X 18? My eyes ain't what they were, LOL. I thought about the Z6 Great scope but tooo many $. Next Xmas maybe. How does the 20 Tac go ? What projectiles, powder are you useing?

No, you loose nothing, other than the 3.5 - 5 bottom end. Possibly even better given the 52mm vs 44mm objective. I bought my Z6 as a demo unit from Euro Optics, great to deal with.

20 Tac is awesome. Had a couple of 204R before I had the Tac built. Tac has great brass (Lapua), mine is pushing 40gr vmax at around 3,950fps. 5 shot 0.5-0.6 MOA easy. Using N133 and CCI450 primers...

How does the 300 Wim Mag do on the rabbits ? The Z6 seems popular concidering the coin. That Euro Optics is a good site, I tend to drool on the keyboard when I look at that stuff LOL. Having trouble getting over 3600 with a 39 SBK's out of a 20 inch barrel!! I have CFE223,W748, Benchmark 2, 2219 and 2207 Have'nt done the 2207 yet the BM2 looks okay I am up around 27 now so getting a little heavy. Might try the N133, I have tried cci 450 and now use Rem 7.5, Very good groups just low speed 32 V Max at 3875, 3 into less than 1/2" at the mo. Hope to improve on the speed next time at range. I am thinking of a Tika Varmint in 204R and use this for the Ute at night. Who did the 20 Tac?

Tony Titheridge built my 20 Tac. Mine has a 24 inch barrel. I easily bettered the velocity that I could get out of my 204R, using less powder... Seems strange, but thats the way its worked out. I have a feeling I got a fast barrel though, but will know for sure soon as my brother is building one identical to mine (he got sick of watching me smoke things with mine compared to his 223...)

I have heard very good things about the 20 Tac and 20 Pratical I may get this Weatherby done to 20 Tac but may still buy the 204 Varmint and do that if I like the 20 Tac. Robbie Tiffen seems to like the 20 pratical and says I should get a upper for the AR. What load of powder are you using? I know it does'nt help in the 204 but just out of interest!!! Did you stop at tha load that gave you 3950 or did that give you the grouping you wanted? Thanks for the insight.

The main reason I went for the Tac over the Practical is that I already loaded for a couple 223's and didn't want the possibility of mixing cases (as the Tac brass is correctly headstamped rather than necking down 223 brass for the Practical). I'm using 25.6gr of N133. Was running 26gr for 3,990fps, but it wasn't as consistant as the 25.6gr load, and I lost a couple cases at 26gr so backed it off a little...

I have looked at the AR platform a bit, quite tempted to do one in 20 Tac... So far I have resisted the temptation...

I love the AR great fun and shoots small groups with lots of loads 24 inch 1 in 9 twist. The AR is shooting .223 36gn Barnes Varmint grenades with 27gn of Benchmark 2 behind it into 1/4 at 100 at 3714. This 204r will have to behave or it is gone! I'm at 28gn BM2 behind 32 vmax for 3875 best.Have gone to 28.6 and I think the chrono played up Low Battery so won't quote fps will try again next week. The CFE 223 is giving 3850 for 30.9gn 32 vmax into 1/2,will try up to 31.5 but slowly, I am getting very little pressure signs but am very wary of these loads. I must have a slow short barrel.I think I will get some N133 and see if I can find a few loads for the 204 for it!!! What did you load the 204 with? Thanks for the input
