    Swarovski new binocular

Looks like Swaro have brought out a new flagship model called the 'NL Pure'. Costs a little fortune - looks to be in the $5k range.

Got 20% more FOV than the older El model, and even beats the Zeiss Victory SF.

Swarovski Optik Announce the NL Pure - More Field Of View - Sporting Shooter

Got EL's but they did not say the new binos were more clearer. So what.

The NL Pure 8×42 weighs 840g and is not a replacement for the current EL range of binoculars.

    ELs are properly awesome glass.
However I do like the look of the 10x42.
I wonder what the transmission will be compared to my HTs

91% vs 95% but virtually edgeless sounds interesting.

On one hand, it's nice that Swaro are trying to push the envalope (somewhat) in an area which hasn't seen much innovation over the last decade. There's only so much you can do to improve a great binocular.

The new ergonomics, and the extra wide field of view sure are tempting, but there's nothing about the NL (at first glance) which screams longevity or timelessness. Both of which are characteristics I'd assign the older EL.

The NL seems like a bit of a fad. And what's the bet that they'll tweak it in a year or two? That's the biggest trouble with completely new designs - it can take a few years for little niggles to be ironed out, and for them to be refined into a mature product (that's what happened with the Zeiss SF).

You're actually better off buying the slightly older model which has been doing the rounds for years, than the new kid on the block.

The EL has had 20 odd years to be perfected. It's reached its' peak.

I'm sure there will be buyers for them even at that price. Some people want the "best" and have the money to be able to afford it.
