My wife has the Z3 4-12x50mm ballistic turret mounted to her bolt action 250 AI and it has been a very good scope. It gathers a little more light than the Z5 3.5-18x44mm and the ballistic turret tracks well. She has shot hares with this combo out to 350m and neck shot a 13 point Red Stag at 275m. The Z5 version wasn't available when we bought the Z3 and I can only imagine that the Z5 has slightly better glass and coatings.

I think one model is a lot heavier than the straight Z5 and Z3 - Z5??
    I bought a 3.5 - 18 x 44 but would prefer x 50

Ok got one this morning at Rivers to Ranges. Thanks Jeremy!

On 260carbonlight it clears the barrel by 2mm so all good there.

At 2.4 power looks to be spot on for bush hunting and at 12 power looks the biz for a 500 yard shot.

When the rain clears will sight her in.

    The weights are as follows,
    Z3 4-12x50 BT 410 grams
    Z5 2.4-12x50 BT 460 grams
    Z5 3.5-18x44 BT 450 grams
    Z5 5-25x52 BT 495 grams.
Neither the Z3 or Z5 50mm scopes have parallax adjustment.

The Swarovski X5s are heavy at around 900 grams. Hopefully @Ginga will report back on how his Z5 performs, I also think Ginga will be chuffed.

Ok so my impressions are all good. Sighted in easily and as expected the scope is very clear and crisp to look through.

Set at2.4 power gave a massive field of view and would be awesome in the bush. At 12 power it was a noticeable advantage over the 10 power of a vx3 Leupold. Clearer sight picture too.

I reckon it would be more than adequate for a 500 yard or further shot with the advantage of the close range option.

Haven’t dialled it yet so not sure if this will be ok.

    All in all I’m rapt.
